God's Symphony

Symphony

God was writing a symphony

When all we could feel was pain

God was singing a melody over us

When all we could hear was anger

God was playing the tune of our lives

When all we could see was brokenness

When all we could feel was emptiness

All the while, we wondered where God was

He had been right in our ears

Writing a symphony

It was loud enough for us to hear

If we had only been listening

-KBT

Life brings so many different emotions and experiences with it that sometimes we become lost in the noise. Sounds from the outside seem to drown out the most important sound: the voice of God. We listen to the sounds of our peers, sounds of the media, and other sounds of the world. Why is it so hard for us to dance to His music instead of the music of the world? We bend over backwards to please people: our families, friends, coworkers, significant other. But what are we doing to please God? It's not like He is always giving us the silent treatment. Sometimes, we just aren't listening to what He is trying to say.

We feel the pain, but God anticipates the peace He is going to give us.

We hear angry words, but God recognizes the restoration that will follow.

We see our broken pieces, but God has a plan for divine healing.

We feel empty inside, but God is ready to fill us with living water.

We hear everything else around us, but God is busy writing a symphony...His master plan to get us to finally stop and listen to what He's been trying to say all along.

Everything has a purpose. There is a reason for everything under the sun. God has a plan. Even when I don't see it, you're working. Even when I don't feel it, you're working. You never stop, never stop working...

The circumstances we can see do not dictate God's behind the scenes. He doesn't always try to fix things in our lives exactly when we want Him to. He doesn't show up because we need Him one day but we don't call for Him the next. When our lives are in a state of complete disarray and we're hanging on by a thread, He is whispering peace and writing a symphony. Even in the madness, there is peace, drowning out the voices all around me...

We don't always get to dance to a happy tune in life, but when we do, it's all because of God's symphony. The one He is constantly conducting, but we don't see or hear, unless we are looking and listening.

What would happen in our lives if we tuned our ears to the voice of God? When an instrument (like a piano) is out of tune, it might be minute enough that no one else notices. However, it is the musician who truly notices the change in the music. There could be one note or many that are off key because the piano is out of tune. A simple tuning, where someone comes in and restores the keys, will fix the instrument. It will sound brand new and the musician will be happy to play again.

God is the Master Musician in our lives. If something is out of tune, He will get to the heart of the issue. He will lift up the covering and begin working on the inside. When He presses the keys connected to our heart strings, He can immediately detect what is off key. He adjusts the strings and although we may not like this process, the result is amazing. When we begin listening for God's voice, we hear the symphony He has been playing for us all along. Will we join Him in this symphony?
