Great is His Faithfulness

As Christians, I think we are so quick to forget God's faithfulness. Just because He doesn't do things like we want when we want doesn't mean He isn't faithful. I'm sure I've already posted something similar to this, but I just feel like this is a relevant issue in my life and I want others to know that you are not alone.

If you have a faithful friend, they are probably always there for you. They are a constant support system, guide, and/or mentor. They stay beside you in each season of your life and give you words of encouragement along the way. However, at some point, a friend may fail you. That's the unfortunate nature of human beings, but the nature of God is not like that. The Bible tells us that His mercy is new every morning. So no matter how much we fail Him and we go astray, there is mercy for us the next day and the next...No matter what. It doesn't say, Good is His faithfulness, it says, GREAT is thy faithfulness. God is constant. He will never leave us, nor forsake us. There is nothing that can separate us from the love of God. He will not leave when hard times come or the winds beat against our ship. He will not leave when we are drowning in our questions or swallowed in our pride. He will not leave when we are skeptical like doubting Thomas. He will not leave when He sees the worst of us: the anger, the hurt, and the bitterness built up in our lives. He will not leave. In the good or the bad, Jesus is right beside us.

Why are we so faithless when God has shown us time and time again that He is worthy of our praise? Jesus showed us His faithfulness the moment He entered this world and died on the cross for our sins. What would He say about our faith toward Him right now? Would He say, "O ye of little faith" or "I have not found such great faith"? We often believe that he can do what we ask, but it is less common to believe He will. How sad it is for us to have so little faith when God has such great faith in us. Jesus was so devoted to His followers that he rarely turned anyone away who needed to be saved, healed, delivered. He remains the same. If anything has changed between then and now, it is our faith, not His. Maybe we need to look a little more closely at our lives and see where we trust God the least. If you feel like God has given up on you, maybe the reality is that you have given up on Him. He will not give up on you, no matter what.

"In grief and in glory, still great is His faithfulness."
